Quarter
Midgets race on oval tracks between 80 and 120 metres in length.
Safety features include full roll cages, multi-point seat harnesses,
full-face helmets, and complete fireproof race suits. The sport
prides itself on the bases of safety considerations.
Junior
Quarter Midget Australia are constantly reviewing and evaluating
safety rules to ensure that quarter midget racing remains a safe and
competitive sport.
The racing
environment is about children and family. Not only do kids learn
valuable skills and sportsmanship, but they also make new friends.
Mum and Dad will make new friends too.
Quarter
Midget... A Quarter Midget is a 1/4 scale version of a actual open
wheel midget racer/sprintcar. The cars are built around a chrom-moly
tubular frame including anti intrusion bars and kick outs, to stop
wheel intrusion. They are fully suspended with springs and shock
dampening.
The bodies
consist of polycarbonate and aluminium and can be painted to the
driver's preference. They are powered by a Honda single cylinder
air-cooled 4-cycle engine and produce between 4.5 - 5.5 horsepower.
The cars, rules and safety
procedures are designed specifically for kids ages 5 through to 16
yrs.
