Fireball Derby

.

Mark Charge unfortunately found himself out of the running for the SRA Round 3 Fireball Derby at Avalon Raceway Saturday 19th January, after hitting the wall whilst coming out of turn three during his hot lap session.

Mark as to be expected was a little disappointed but spent the remainder of his night up in the spectators stands cheering on his fellow team mates american Gary Isom and Victorian Champion Matthew Reed, whom finished third in the A Main Event.

There's always next year Mark!

Mark Charge finishes 6th in Round 1 of the Rolling Thunder Series Championships held at Bacchus Marsh Speedway.

"The dry track caught out many last night, so all I wanted to do was stay out of trouble and be up there in the points. I didn't see any sense in tearing the car up and being behind the eight ball, especially for the first race. I drove conservatively, brought her home in one piece and earn  some points so all in all I'm happy"

 VICTORIAN TITLE 360 CLASS EVENT

Westside Honda's V48 driver Mark Charge displayed impressive form when he competed in the Victorian Title 360 Class event  held Saturday 10th Febuary at Warnambool's Premier Sungold Stadium.

However Charge was unable to finish the feature due to a right rear tyre leak, which sent the car into the wall and brought on the red.

 V48 - A TEAM IN DESPAIR

A great night of racing ended far to early, when the Westside Honda v48 violently rolled in turn 1 on the second lap of the C- Main Fireball Derby, held at Avalon Dec 16th.

Pit crew, and family looked on in horror as they watched the car sling shot towards the wall after being tapped coming into the corner. The incident resulted in driver Mark Charge enduring several end over end rolls before violently slamming into the wall and settling back down in the dirt.

Fortunately, Mark was unharmed however unable to compete in the remaining events of the night.

V23 Ashley Bourke gets a little too close!

Mark Charge was proving to be a real hard charger at Premier Speedway - Sun Gold Stadium on Sunday Dec 3rd,  when he almost stole 3rd place in the 360 day event when disaster struck on the last lap.

As Mark headed into turn 3 preparing to make his pass on #V4 Phil LockAshley Burke #V23 came in too hot and catapulted his car onto the rear of the V48 Westside Honda Avenger leaving Mark to finish in 4th place.

ROUND 1 THUNDER SERIES Bacchus Marsh

Round 1 of the Rolling Thunder Series held at Bacchus Marsh Speedway Saturday November 11th was a night to remember for Mark Charge and his family, as he strapped himself into his 360 Sprintcar and geared up for racing for the very first time. Mark not only had no experience in racing sprintcars  he also had no chance to practice before the big event, due to reconstruction on his local track. So as you can imagine watching him in action and knowing he was mixing it up with the great drivers of sprint car racing it was not only nail biting but extremely impressive. Mark started rear of field in both his heats (8th position) and finished 4th and 3rd consecutively. And after being awarded the 5th highest points scorer he started alongside "THE FLY" Ian Lewis in 5th position for the A MAIN.

The A MAIN was not without incidences, but Mark was well positioned to make his way around them. A few caution flags were waved, and soon enough everyone was watching the "new guy" make his way through lap traffic. A few times on turn 3 Mark seemed to run wide , losing a couple of places, but with his sheer determination and awesome horsepower he regained his position and crossed the finish line in 5th Place.

Great Result for a First Timer Mark, Well Done!
