Release Jarryd Stokes

The final round of
the 2007-2008 Eureka Garages and Sheds Sprintcar Series came
to a conclusion last night (April 12) at Hamilton’s Western
Speedway with Scoresby’s Matthew Reed capturing his fifth
SRA Eureka Series victory, while Point Cook’s David Murcott
held on for his third Eureka Series feature win this season.
Reed
was full of smiles knowing he had secured his fifth SRA
Eureka Series victory before his first American racing
campaign in the coming months.
“We’ve raced these things (Sprintcars) for just over a
decade and in five of those years to have won the SRA Series
is a great achievement. We’ve won the series every time we
have competed in the whole competition,” Reed said.

SIMPSON SPEEDWAY
HOSTS 360 AUSTRALIAN TITLE
Spectators at Simpson
Speedway saw plenty of action on Saturday 5th January as it
hosted the 360 Victorian Title and the Brodix Sprintcar
Series.
Competitors such as
Troy Little, Lauren Densley and the current Victorian Open
Sprintcar Champion Matthew Reed driving the V48 sprintcar of
Mark Charge, were among many that competed for the title and
the points in the Brodix Series.
Reed, with his
experience on the tricky Simpson track looked like a strong
contender for the title as he got his night off to a great
start, with a win from seventh position for the first heat.
However a DNF was recorded in heat 2 after "Mr Speed" took a
wild ride when he got tangled up with V23 Ashley Bourke in
turns 3 and 4, resulting in him being restarted rear of
field. With the car sustaining severe wing and rear end
damage Reed had only completed a few more laps before the
torque tube dislodged and caused him to pull infield and sit
out for the remainder of his heat.
With a win and a DNF
in his heats Reed still qualified to start from 7th position
alongside Ashley Bourke in the feature, with Tony Moule and
Johnny Vogels on front row.
The Victorian Title
went to Tony Moule, with Johnny Vogels 2nd and Ricky Barrard
3rd.
Matthew finished in
7th position.
